you about the new year's eve violence in san francisco last night. police in sacramento are investigating a deadly shooting near a fireworks show. our reporter mike lori tells us two people were killed three others were hurt. what happened out there, mike? >> reporter: well, dave, sacramento police say they have the shooter in custody. the 22-year-old gunman is in the hospital right now. he too was shot it turns out by an armed sure guard who intervened and actually stopped the deadly shooting before it claims even more lives. we do know that two people are dead and three injured following a shooting this tack place a at a bar in old sacramento. one of those dead is an employee, believed to be a waiter who worked in the restaurant. the incident forced the cancellation of new year's eve celebrations, causing thousands of people to head for home without any fireworks at all. here's what one eyewitness told us about. >> we heard gunshots. the dude came into that hooka place shooting. come back out. ran around the corner and was firing down the sidewalk. some guy with a baby

works show in old sacramento was cancelled last night after two people were shot and killed at a sport bars in that area. as a result those fire works were set off this morning shortly after 8:00. city leaders say they decided to launch those fire works because it's too dangerous to store them after they've been load and had ready. >>> as for that barroom shooting, sacramento police say it started as an argument and escalated. a bar employee steped in to try to break up the fight and that's when police say a 22-year-old man pulled out a gun and shot and killed the employee and a 35-year-old man. a woman was also struck by a bullet. she is wounded. police say an armed security guard heard the shots and confronted the gunman. the two exchanged gunfire. both suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. police have arrested the suspected gunman. >>> san francisco's belofed explore tore yum is pulling up stakes and moving. the science museum is relocating after 43 years tat pa las of fine arts in the marina. it'll reopen in a much-larger space at peer 15 april 17th. it's offering free admi

that out. most of the rain moved into the sacramento valley and down around the monterey peninsula, still light showers around the bay, not on the north bay and now on the peninsula. a little touch of it out on the east bay. livermore had light rain about an hour ago and pushed toward the altamonte pass and down to the south bay, now it's headed down toward morgan hill and hollister. a few showers early today, clearing and cool this afternoon and then high and dry for a little while and for a change. rainfall totals, boy, look at marin county up at the ferry terminal -- livermore 1/4 inch. low spinning over southern california and some aliens have blocked this part of the satellite data. we will have to be in touch with them and see what we have to do to get it back. low pressure is going to continue to move into the south lands with some light showers expected in los angeles tomorrow. we will look for showers early and then clearing this afternoon. pinpoint forecast is calling for if you're heading out of the bay area, partly cloudy skies in sacramento after the early morning showers. it

it was five in tahoe this morning. 39 -- 48 in sacramento some of that cold air coming in already a breeze watch is out for the north bay tonight and frost advisory is out everywhere else. the before mention low that i talked about picking up little activity could be splash abdomen dash this is a weak system and very active pattern. southern california more so than up here over about the last several days. we get little systems coming by. they don't have much moisture they're packing a lot of cold air. mostly sunny, but it's a cool breezy day with that north wind in place, so temperatures upper 40s are very very low 50s and not sure right by the bay. i think 53, 54 will be set for two or three minutes and temps will start to go back down. low 50s, closer to the water you'll see a little bit warmer temps but not a lot. same can be said, with that 51 palo alto. but because of this cold air in place tonight freeze warning and frost advisory tomorrow david so it's going to be a cold one tomorrow morning and wind protected areas. sunny, clouds thursday, kind of mostly sunny i think they were cl

as well as sacramento. elsewhere around the bay, numbers much cooler. no more 60s. 56 downtown as well as san mateo with a couple upper 50s. we will call it partly cloudy skies, a slight chance after shower not only today, it will take us through tonight and tomorrow. the atmosphere a little unstable. the influence now more out of the north. that's why we are getting the cooler air mass, the slight chance of a shower interacting with some of that moisture in place from the south. 555 monterey and 58 hollister. after tomorrow the accuweather forecast shows we will look at continued dry weather but we aren't going to really warm up until the middle of the week when we see highs nudge up to 60 around the bay. thursday and fry back to lower 60s. and unfortunately not any rain into the extended outlook. the snowpack will continue to slip. we are still a little bit above normal in percentage. normal for rainfall but it would be nice it see some rain. it is january. >> thank you, lisa. you still have a chance to get in on a pair of super bowl tickets that the san francisco 49ers owner is givi

of the foothills could see a dusting but not a lot of moisture associated the system. 59 in sacramento, as well as dig surf report. highs today ranging from about 59 half moon bay, breezy winds. so certainly cooler than what we've been used to. that slight chance after shower not only for the north bay, pretty much bay area-wide throughout the day today. mid-50s in monterey with 59 in salinas. 57 in santa cruz. a little breezy, and by tomorrow we are still talking about partly cloudy skies, a slight chance after shower. monday very little change, but mostly sunny. tuesday more sunshine, it will begin to warm up. but it's wednesday, thursday and friday you will notice return to the lower 60s. certainly the snowpack taking a hit. they are always making snow there but mother nature not helping out in this department. >> doesn't look like it. thank you, lisa. >>> sometimes you put something in the mail knowing there's a slight chance it could get lost. a bay area man said his package wasn't exactly lost, it got stuck in a world known as a postal loop. michael finney said that can be pretty frustrat
